ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Bruce Lackey (1930-1988) taught at Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga, Tennessee, for nineteen years and was the dean of the Bible School for a number of years until the early 1980’s. He pastored the Lakewood Baptist Church of Chattanooga for eight years and pastored two other churches before that. During the last few years of his life, he traveled as a Bible conference speaker and authored several books. He was an accomplished musician, a highly gifted Bible teacher, and a diligent scholar who was proficient in the Greek language. Dr. Lackey, who was deeply respected and beloved by the “preacher boys” at Temple, defended the Received Text and the King James Bible as the preserved Word of God.

    An excellent resource

My pastor who led me to Christ was a study of Dr. Lackey at Tennessee Temple during the time when he was putting out his books and other defense of the King James Bible, and he introduced me to videos and audio as well as his books. I have always been impressed with this book. It is very concise and to the point. Well written, and without bias. It does not present a theology, but simply, point by point, 10 methods of studying scripture. This line has stayed with me from the first time I read it (and later watched the video of it), "Read the entire book at least ten times,...." in chapter 3 for How To Study A Book, or "Read the chapter at least ten times,...." in chapter 4 for How To Study A Chapter, or "Read the passage at least ten times." That's chapter 5, How To Study Devotionally. Following this in the fifth chapter, and much why the instruction has stuck with me for some three decades, is this comment, "Great expository preachers of the past would read a book ten, twenty, even fifty times before attempting to expound it. The most important aspect of Bible study is to saturate your mind and heart with the very words of scripture." So, I highly recommend this excellent work for every Christian in all of our churches. God bless you in your pursuit of understanding God's word and following His will.
